Working at Rural Roasts

Founded in 2018 we are now in our 6th year of catering! Here at Rural Roasts we pride ourselves on providing top quality, great tasting food using locally sourced, sustainable ingredients. But what is it like working for us?

We cater for public and private events for hosts that want to something that bit extra special for their event. We focus on amazing tasting food, attentive presentation and a friendly, personal service. We like to create a relaxed but professional atmosphere, delivering that 5 star service our clients expect, always exceeding expectations. 

Our events can range from fast paced public events to lazy afternoon garden parties, from serving in the most beautiful wedding venues to muddy fields, from the simple hog roast roll all the way to a three course sit down meal. So you’ll always have variety!  

Our event teams range from 2 staff members to 10 depending on the size of events. Due to the nature of event catering, shift times vary but are more often weekends from midday to evenings. We are expected to be fully booked most weekends from May until October.

Events Assistant – £13+ an hour

We are looking for events assistants to join our amazing team. The role entails helping to set up events, basic food preparation, food service and tidying away at the end of the event. We are looking for individuals who have an eye for presentation and attention to detail, great with working in a team, professional and friendly with clients and the public. 

If you enjoy food, are proactive when working and can work independently and in a team this may be the role for you. Events vary from birthday party hog roasts all the way to serving canapés and table service. Events Manager – £20+ an hour

We are looking for an events manager to join our amazing team. Events Managers are responsible for leading and organising events, being in charge of staff, timings and liaising with the client directly. They are responsible for delivering exemplary levels of customer service, presentation and ensuring the service of delicious, high quality food. 

Events Managers, should be able to juggle managing people, customers and clients whilst preparing and cooking delicious food to the Rural Roasts standards, ensuring a great event from start to finish. 

A typical shift for an Events Manager would be to meet with Josh or Emma to discuss the event including timings, staff on shift and the menu in advance. Arrive at the venue to set up, ensuring timings are kept for cooking and service. Liaise with the client in person. Instruct staff members on their roles and ensure everything is ready for service. Supervise the service of the food, ensuring presentation and quality are to the highest. Ensure the client and customers are totally happy after service. Supervise the packing away and clearing up of an event. De-brief with Josh or Emma post event. 

Pay for this role begins at £20 per hour and rises with experience. Company vehicle will be provided whilst working on shift.

Progressive Pay

Base pay for Events Assistants starts at £13 per hour, increasing with experience. 

Base pay for Events Managers starts at £20 per hour, increasing with experience. 

Bonus Scheme

£5 per event bonus for successful events for Events Assistants 

£15 per event bonus for successful events and 5 star reviews for Events Managers 

Training & Certificates

What are we looking for

Personal Skills

Being able to work in a team, be organised and proactive with a good work ethic. Must have good time keeping skills and be reliable. Must be good with working with the general public, polite, friendly and professional. 

Experience

Experience working with the general public in a catering setting or within the retail industry preferential but not essential. Experience in cooking would be useful however all training provided. 

Interests

Must have a passion for great tasting food, presentation and service along with an interest in working with people. An interest in the countryside, farming and/or sustainable food production preferential. 

Qualifications

Qualifications in catering, waiting and service preferred but not essential. Driving licence preferred.
